Fred L. Kraye was born on 1934
at Mullen, NE to Ernest and Helen Kraye.
He has two sisters, Betty Evans of Mullen,
NE and Nancy Laier of Eustis, NE.

Fred grew up on the ranch which is located
twelve miles southwest of Mullen. He attain-
ed his elementary education in a country
school, attended high school at Curtis, NE for
2 years and then finished at Mullen High,
graduating in 1951. He went into ranching
with his father on the home place. Fred
married Theresa Sullivan and they have four
children; Carol, Fredrick, John, and Michael.

Theresa is the daughter of David and Ann
Sullivan. There were 10 children in her
family. Eight of the family are still living;
Eleanor, Don, Mary, Laura, Robert, Rosalie,
and the twins, Jerry and Theresa. Theresa
worked as a bookkeeper at Mathews Chevro-
let Company for seven years after graduating
from Mullen High in 1951.

Fred and Theresa purchased the property
which used to be the old refinery from Darwin
Mercure in the spring of 1968. Kraye Feed &
Supply was established. They are currently
operating this along with a trucking business.
Fred still has an interest in the ranch and
spends time order buying cattle. This is
operated mainly as a family operation. John
and wife, Julie and children, David and
Helen, live on the home place where Fred was
raised and lived until the spring of 1974, when
he and family put up a house on property east
of Mullen. Fredrick and wife, Judy live in
Mullen and Fredrick drives a truck and helps
around the shop. Carol and her husband John
G. Wright and children, Christina and
Stephanie live in Mullen. Carol is employed
at the Bank of Mullen and John drives a truck
and helps with the cattle along with doing
carpenter work on the side. Mike is a
sophomore at Mullen High and provides help
in his spare time. Theresa is the homemaker,
dispatcher and bookkeeper for the crew.
