LANHAM, ROBERT AND FERN (STURTZ)

Fern Arlene Sturtz was born August 7, 1914
to Olive Mae (Whalen) Sturtz and James
Grover Sturtz in Boone County, Iowa. Grover
and Olive moved to Hooker County the
summer of 1918, three miles north east of
Mullen where James Whalen was born. In
1929, they moved thirty five miles northwest
of Mullen on what is now the Russell Phipps
ranch. They lived in sodhouse several years
until a frame home was built. Fern and Jim
attended the Lackey school four and a half
miles northwest of the ranch. When Fern
graduated from gradeschool she boarded
with the Elliots her Freshman Year. The next
year they moved back to the east place and
she and Jim both attended the Mullen
schools riding part time until Fern could
drive.

Fern married Robert I. Lanham on March
17, 1936 at Alliance, Nebraska. When the
ranch sold in 1938, they bought a ranch
twelve miles north of Stapleton where they
lived until 1950 when they moved to a farm
southeast of Arnold so their oldest could
attend highschool. They had four children
and all attended and graduated from the
Arnold Highschool.

Zandra Jean Kyne - married Nov. 12, 1959
- three children Colynn, Jay, Pattie and four
adopted children (one boy died)

Sharron Lee Storkan - married Aug. 2,
1959 - three children - Amy, Mike and Jill

Robert Douglas - married August 21, 1971
- has two children Jennifer and Bobbie

Donna Mae Rimpley - married Jan. 4, 1963
- has two boys - Joie and Phillip divorced.
- married - Peter Teske June 6, 1970 - has
a girl Candace and boy - Sam

Fern and Bob moved into Arnold in June
1974. Bob passed away on October 3, 1974.
Fern is living in Arnold at this time.
