Steve Lattin family. Brett, Steve, William, Barbara, Rebecca, and Darren


Steve Lattin was born 1959 to
Joseph and Gene Boyce Lattin in Alliance,
Nebraska. He spent his first few years on the
ranch, 17 miles southwest of Mullen. Steve
started to the Mullen Grade school in the fall
of 1954, the first fall a bus was run, previously
elementary students attended a country
school close to home. Steve attended all of his
early schooling at Mullen Grade and Mullen
High School. He participated in sports and
class activities while at Mullen High and
graduated in May of 1967. He attended
Chadron State College in the fall of 1967 and
graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in
Industrial Arts and Driver Education in 1972.
After graduation he was employed by the
Chadron Police Department as a city patrol-
man and graduated from the Nebraska Law
Enforcement Training Center in 1974.

Steve met Barbara Ann Blaney while at
Chadron. Barbara was born on 1951
in Sheridan, Wyoming and was attending
Chadron State studying to be an elementary
teacher. They were married on January 6,
1973 in Sheridan, Wyoming. Barbara gradu-
ated from Chadron State in May of 1974, with
a degree in elementary education. Steven
then terminated his work with the City of
Chadron and Barb and Steve moved back to
the ranch southwest of Mullen. Barbara
taught school the following fall in McPherson
County at the Art Daly school 20 miles south
of the Lattin ranch.

On 1976, Rebecca Rhea Lattin
was born to Barb and Steve at Pioneer
Memorial, Darren Michael Lattin was born
at Alliance, Nebraska, Brett
Mathew Lattin was born 1979 at
Pioneer Memorial and William Patrick Lat-
tin was born on 1982 at Pioneer
Memorial. The kids have been active in Girl
and Boy scouts, shooting sports, 4-H and all
school activities. Barb had taught school
1985, 1986 and 1987 at McPherson County
School District #9 north of Tryon. She has
been a member of the Hooker County Fair
Board and entertains a "Klaudia" for show-
ers, parties and all functions bringing fun to
all. Steve has served on the ASCS board, Fair
Board and the Mullen Board of Education
and enjoys sports and community activities.
Steve ran for Hooker County Sheriff and was
elected, taking office in January of 1987. The
family are members of the Hyannis, Nebras-
ka Seventh Day Adventist Church.
