Elton Frank Maire was born in Blue Hill,
Nebraska December 17, 1910. His parents
were Nancy and August Maire. In 1911,
Maires moved to Mullen. Elton grew up south
of Mullen. He went to country school. When
the river hill roads were being made, he
worked on them, driving a four horse friznal.
March 2, 1929 he and Gertrude Babcock were
united in marriage.

Gertrude Babcock Maire was born at
Trouble, Nebraska in Cherry County, May 5,
1909. She spent her girlhood days on the
ranch and attended country school until
1922. My Dad was George Arthur Babcock,
who passed away November 21, 1921. Then
my Mother, Estella Gertrude and I came to
Mullen. I finished grade and high school here.
I graduated from Mullen High School in 1929
and was united in marriage to Elton Maire,
March 2, 1929. To that union one son, George
Elton, was born 1930. From that time
on Elton worked on ranches and Keywitts
Construction.

In 1958, we went back to our ranch in
Cherry County. We stayed there until Sep-
tember 6, 1974 when Elton had a stroke. He
was in the hospital and nuring facilities for
two years, then we returned to Mullen,
Nebraska. There we settled in my Mother's
house as my mother was gone. She passed
away November 27, 1961.
