Henry Otto was born in Blue Hill, Nebr. to

moved to Mullen sometime in 1906. His
parents were born and raised in Germany,
1865 and 1866 respectfully. There were five
(5) other children besides Henry. They were
Mollie (Piel) ; August; Anna (Clardy); Carl
and Herman. Henry was a farmer all his
Nebraska life. He married Stella Leigh

Leigh was born in 1894 to Iva and John
Furrow in Winterset, lowa in a log house.
They migrated to Nebraska in 1905. Their
first home was six (6) miles north of Seneca.
They traveled by railroad boxcar, loading all
their belongings plus livestock in the boxcar.
From Seneca they moved south of Mullen

twelve (12) miles south east of Mullen, did
farming and beef cattle. The older children
attended MacPherson Grammar School. The
family left Mullen in depression days for
Oregon, in July, 1935. They picked cherries
for two weeks around Eugene, then traveled
on to California. Stopped at Crescent City
August 1, 1935, finding no work they contin-
ued onto Eureka. There Henry and Frank got
employment at Hammond Lumber Com-

due to redwood poisoning. Frank also left in
1937 to return to Nebraska to live for four
years. When Henry left the mill he worked on
dairy ranches as a milker and farmer. Due to
asthma the family moved to Red Bluff,
California in March of 1946. There Henry
worked for a highway construction company
for a few years, then in a lumber retail yard
until his retirement. They always had a lovely
garden and an abundance of fruit, and also
raised their own beef.

Scotia, when the family returned from Neb.
in 1942 until his death in April, 1977. Edith
worked at the Rio Dell School cafeteria for
several years, moving to Fortuna in 1977
where she still resides.

Dell, Ca. Reuben came to Calif. in 1936 with
his mother Goldie (Tague) Krader. Emma
and Babe had four children, Marvin; Betty;
