McINTOSH, MELVIN AND JOSEPHINE (PIEL)

Melvin (Bill) McIntosh and Josephine Piel
were married in Torrington, Wyoming, on
October 12, 1936. They made their home in
Mullen, Nebraska where Bill had his own
trucking business. Four children were born to
this couple in Mullen - Janet in 1973, Melva
in 1939, Dale in 1944 and Melvin in 1947. Bill
worked day and night running the truck
business and attending livestock sales where
he bought and sold cattle for himself and also
bought cattle for many other people. Jose-
phine worked many years as a bookkeeper at
the Mullen Co-op, to help out with the
expenses, growing the family up. Bill passed
away on May 30, 1978, due to a tractor
accident. Josephine and youngest son, Mel-
vin, carried on the McIntosh Trucking
business and Melvin buys and sells livestock
as Bill did. She remarried on April 14, 1984
to Jim Johnson of North Platte, Nebraska,
and they keep very busy with the business
and their social activities, especially their
dancing. At present, Josephine has 10 grand-
children and 5 great grandchildren.

Janet McIntosh was born in Mullen and
grew up there. She attended all her years of
school there and graduated from Mullen
High School. After graduation, she worked
for Eriksen and Simonson Insurance Agency.
She married Wayne Gorsuch on August 26,
1956. They had 4 children - Marvin, Alan,
Loren and Karen. All 3 boys graduated from
Mullen High School and Karen is a sopho-
more. Marvin has been on the railroad for 11
years and has 2 children - Dean and Michelle.
Alan is an airplane mechanic and he and his
wife Susan (Young) live in Minneapolis,
Minnesota where he is employed by North-
west Airlines. Loren loves ranching like his
father and lives on a ranch out of Whitman,
Nebraska, with his wife, Kimber (Wiedrich)
and baby daughter, Erin. Wayne and Janet
have lived on a ranch north of Mullen for 24
years.They own the Gorsuch Apartments
building in Mullen. Janet was born in that
very building. Janet has been a school bus
driver for Mullen Public Schools for the past
6 years.
