McPHERSON, HUGH D. AND EFFIE M. (CALKINS)

Hugh Duncan McPherson was born Jan-
uary 10, 1868 at Hardin County, Iowa to
Cyrus and Mary (Havens) McPherson. Effie
M. Calkins was born January 4, 1875 at
Indianapolis, Indian to Aca M. and Addie
Calkins. Hugh married Effie on December 6,

The McPherson's farmed southwest of
Seneca in Hooker County. Children listed in
an obituary are as follows: Fern, Addie, Doris,
Evelyn, Leannie, Mabel, Maude, Jennie,
Hugh Jr. "Buster" died age 17, Ross Cyrus,
and James.

Hugh died March 5, 1946 at Hearwell,
Nebraska of liver trouble and the flu. He was
retired and residing at Kenesaw, Nebraska
and his son Cyrus lived at Hartwell at this
time.

Effie N. died at Grand Island, Nebraska
April 18, 1924. Both Effie and Hugh are
buried in the Seneca, Nebraska Cemetery.

One son Hugh Jr. "Buster" was born
February 11, 1908 at Merna, Nebraska and
died August 25, 1925 on the farm near Seneca
of an accidental gun shot. He was also buried
in the Seneca, Nebraska Cemetery. (Taken
