UPHOFF, MELVIN AND DORIS (REIGLE)

Doris Irene Reigle was born to Ray E. and
Myrtle I. (Shefneer) Reigle, 1940
in Cherry County Nebraska.

Doris was two years old when her family
moved to Hooker county south of Mullen
where she attended school until the 5th grade
when she came to Mullen for school. While
in high school, Doris was active in band,
playing the French horn and was majorette
and twirler for the Marching Band.

She graduated in 1958 and worked for the
local dentist Dr. Earl Walker until her
marriage on January 3, 1959 to Melvin (Mel)
Carl Uphoff of Lexington, Ne., at the United
Methodist Church in Mullen, Ne.

Mel was born in North Platte, Ne. on
1937 to Carl & Mary Elizabeth
(Chapman) Uphoff.

Mel has worked for many years as an
announcer on KRVN in Lexington, Ne.,
where they still live. He also had a dance band
that played for many years in the area called
"Mel Uphoff and the Country Lads".

Doris has trained and raised horses, is now
raising poodles and registered cats. She also
judges at many 4-H Horse Shows.

They are the parents of two daughters,
Carla Rae born 1961 and
Cynthia Kay born 1962, both at
the Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Mullen,
Ne.

They are also grandparents of Jessica
LiAnn Tjaden born 1987 to
Dennis & Carla (Uphoff) Tjaden of Jules-
burg, Co.
