Long's Hardware and Recreation 1987

The Floyd Longs bought the McIntyre
Hardware store in the spring of 1952. They
had already bought the building in which it
was housed, from Myrle Starr in the fall of
1951. They carried a full line of hardware
stock plus Congolen Linoleum and Pittsburg
Paints.

Floyd worked at other jobs a lot and
Marguerite ran the hardware store quite a lot
by herself. They sold the hardware stock in
1959 and put in four pool tables and three
card tables. Since 1960 they have run a Pool
Hall.

The building is the old Delicatessen built
in 1917. It is located between the Bank and
Hampton Agency on Main Street. The
upstairs was used for Doctors' and Dentists'
offices and apartments in the early years.
Since the Longs bought the building, it has
housed the old telephone switch board, a
Cosmetology center and rented apartments.
At present it is used only as Floyd and
Marguerite's home. They have lived here for
thirty-five years and still call it home.
