Ivan W. Dooley was born to Wilfred and
Adel Dooley April 3, 1907 in Lawrence,
Nebraska. He attended school in Bloom-
ington, Nebraska until the 8th grade. He
helped his Dad out down there until around
1930, when he moved to the Sandhills at
Mullen. Arriving there he worked for his
brother-in-law Ralph Robinson and was later
employed by the State of Nebraska.

It was a few short years later that he met
Edna Marie Boyer who was born to Willie
and Nellie Boyer on October 1, 1912 in
Mullen. She was teaching school north of
Mullen and they were married on April 5,
1934. That fall they moved 9 miles north of
Mullen on the HUB ranch which belonged to
Nellie Boyer Isom. Twenty-three years were
spent out there, and 5 children were born to
this union. Three girls, Alice, Beth, and Trila,
then 8 years later two boys, Marlan and
Ronald.

In the spring of 1958, the bought the Soo-
Paw Motel at Trenton, Nebraska and man-
aged it until Ivan's death on December 25,
1964. Marie sold the motel, bought a home
back in Mullen and she and the boys moved
back in August of 1965. She did cleaning at
the Pioneer Memorial Hospital and Nursing
Home and some private homes for several
years. Marie passed away on October 16,
1985. Both Ivan and Marie succumbed to
cancer.

Their daughter Alice, married Douglas
Phipps and they are ranchers. They have 3
children and 7 grandchildren. Both works for
Pan Am Airlines in Miami, Florida. Her home
is in Tampa with husband Judd Hammond,
Jr. They have 1 daughter. Trila and her
husband Mervin Schoenberg farm northeast
of Padroni, Colorado and have 2 children.
Marlan married Linda Little and they have
3 daughters. They live at McCook, Nebraska
and he works for Food Services of America.
Ronald, his wife Leann Long, and 2 children
live southwest of Burns, Wyoming. He's a
Boiler Operator at Francis E, Warren Air
Force Base in Cheyenne.
