ELLIOTT, IRA LEWIS AND ALICE (RHEINHEIMER)

Ira Lewis Elliott born at Laredo, Mo., on
June 19, 1883. His parents were Charles and
Lydia Elliott. Ira was eldest of six children
and with his parents came to Nebr. In 1885,
they settled near McCook, Nebr. Ira's father
was a farmer. Ira attended rural school near
McCook, Nebr.

Ira was married to Alice Rheinheimer at
Banksville, Nebr. Alice was born in Germany
and came to America, with her parents in
1885. The family settled at Wahoo, Nebr.,
where they resided for one year, then moving
to Frontier Co. where Alice attended school.
Their three eldest children, Janet, Charley
and Raymond were born near McCook.
Raymond died in infancy.

Ira and Alice moved to Traer, Kansas
about 1907. Ira bought the Traer Hardware
and Implement store. They resided there
until 1916. Thelma was born at Traer, Kansas
May 5, 1915.

Ira sold his store in 1916 and moved to a
farm near McCook. Melba was born there
October 3, 1916. Ira sold the farm and
purchased a Grocery and Meat market at
Bushnell, Nebr. in 1917 and later selling this
store in 1919 and purchased the Walters farm
6 miles north of Mullen, Nebr. and in Cherry
County where the family moved. Later Ira
added to his holdings by buying the Dell
Kimber and Alec Hetherington lands which
joined to the Walter farm.

Janet and Charley finished their Grade
Schooling at the Riegle school, which Thelma
and Melba attended through their Grade
School years. All, later were graduates of the
Mullen High School.

Alice Elliott passed away at the St. Joseph
Hospital, Alliance, Nebr. Jan. 5, 1939 and is
buried in the Cedarview Cemetery at Mullen,
Nebr. Later Ira sold his holdings to Wayne
Christie and moved to Mullen, Nebr. where
he made his home until his death. He was
City marshal 2 years after moving to Mullen.
Ira passed away at the Pioneer Hospital in
Mullen, Jan 30, 1964 and is buried in the
Cedarview Cemetery at Mullen.

Janet married Lynn Boyer in 1923 and to
this union were born two children Betty and
Eugene. Janet later married Lewis Cooley in
1941. Lewis passed Away Dec. 1974. Janet
resides in Mullen.

Charles married Evelyn Rever in 1937, to
this union was born five children Joyce, Ira
"Bud", Myrna, Mary Alice and Jan. Charley
and Evelyn resides in Mullen.

Thelma married Walter Jones in 1935 to
this union was born 3 children Marlene,
Willard and Shirley. Thelma and Walter
reside in Mullen.

Melba married Joe Ray 1936, to this union
was born three children, Joan, Duane and
John. Melba and Joe reside in Broken Bow,
Nebr.
