Edwin A. Fosdick was born at Vadalia,
Mich. Sept. 6, 1853. The family moved to
Giltner, NE in the late 1870's.

Laura J. (Nash) Fosdick was born in
Wisconsin in 1859. She moved with her
parents to Giltner, NE about 1875.

Edwin and Laura were married in Giltner,
Dec. 25, 1880. There were 6 children: Clar-
ence H., Clyde E., Ward F., Emma (Clough) ,
Pearl (Rystrom), and Fern (Marshall). The
family moved to the Burwell and York area.
In 1904 they moved to Hyannis, filing on land
north of that town. They moved to Mullen in
1913, where they operated the Calumet Clae.
The family returned to Hyannis for 4 years,
where they filed on a homestead south of
Hyannis. They again moved to Mullen in
1917, where the Fosdicks ran a general store
in what is now the Historical Society Build-
ing. Family living quarters were in the rear
of the building. Clyde Fosdick operated a
bakery for several years at that time also.
Edwin and son Clarence operated the store
until Edwin's death in 1931. Laura continued
to live in Mullen until about 1943, moving to
Denver Co., to the home of daughter Fern
Marshall. Laura died in 1945.

Ward Franklin Fosdick and Zilpha Ruby
(Ronzo) were united in marriage Oct. 10,
1930, in Alliance, NE. There were 3 children:
Johnna (Morgan) , Betty (Ginkens) , and
Franklin D. Ward worked for Franke Con-
struction several years. He was Village clerk
from 1949 to 1974. Zilpha was a member of
the United Methodist Church. She worked
many volunteer hours as a nurses aide at the
time our Hospital was first started. She also
worked at the Mullen Cafe for a number of
years. They operated the "Del" for a time in
the 40's, at the present site of Long's Pool
Hall.

The couple made their home in Mullen,
until 1974, when they moved to Bridgeport,
NE in retirement. Zilpha died in March, 1977
at Bridgeport. Ward died in Aug. 1977, at
North Platte, NE.

Johnna graduated from Hooker Co. High
in 1945. She attended Wesleyan College in
Lincoln, NE. She was married to Rev. Robert
Morgan Nov. 28, 1947, in the Methodist
Church in Mullen. The couple have 4 sons:
Terry (Mike) of Alaska, Max of Colorado,
John of Texas, and Kenneth of Wyoming.
They now live in Sterling Colorado.

Franklin graduated from Hooker Co. High
in 1951. He attended Chadron state college,
and barbering school in Denver, Co. He
married Eula R. (Andrews) , Nov. 15, 1952. He
worked with his grandfather Ronzo in the
barbershop, and ran it for several years. He
has been with the Nebr. Highway Dept. for
the last several years. Franklin and Eula have
3 children: Janet (Fingerhut), is a nurse in
Holyoke Co. Janet has 2 sons; Shane and
Damon. Chris married the former Patti
(Maucher) they have 2 sons: Justin and
Tyler. They live in Sterling Co. Kurt married
Peg (Garwood), and lives in Juniata, NE.
They have 2 sons: Lucien and Chad.
Betty graduated from Hooker Co. High in
1948. She married Lloyd L. Ginkens Jr. June
14, 1949. They have 3 children: Thomas Dean
(1952), Carolyn Jean (1954), and Dale Alan
(1960).

Betty taught in the rural Hooker Co.
schools for 3 years, after which she was a
homemaker until returning to work part time
in 1970. She has been with the Hooker Co.
Library since 1974.

All the family have been confirmed in the
Episcopal Church.

Tom graduated from Hooker Co. High in
1970, the first person to be a third generation
graduate on both sides of the family. Tom
graduated from Kearney State College in
1974. He married Nancy Clayton Nov. 15,
1975. The couple have 3 children: Sarah,
Rebecca, and Amanda. They live at Overton,
Ne.

Jean graduated from Hooker Co. High in
1972. She attended Kearney State College.
Jean married Ron Jones June 1973. They
have 3 children: Tina, Jason, and Ryan. They
live in Hastings, NE.

Dale graduated from Hooker Co. High in
1978. He attended Kearney State College. He
now works at Vinton Feed Store, and has a
home here in Mullen.

Lloyd L. Ginkens, Jr. was born in Mullen
in 1925. He graduated from Hooker Co. High
in 1943. He joined the Army in World War
II, serving in the European theatre in France,
Luxembourg, and Germany. He worked at
Mathews Chev. Co. after his marriage in 1949
until 1959. He has been postmaster at Mullen
since Oct. 1959. He has been an active
member of the American Legion, and a
Volunteer Fireman for about 40 years.
