ISOM, BOYD AND HARRIET (KIME)

Boyd, son of C.T. and Mattie Carr Isom
and Harriet Isom, daughter of Frank and
Irene Wilkinson Kime, were married at
Valentine, Ne. June 15, 1936. Both were born
in Cherry County.

They lived in Mullen, Ne. until 1938 when
they moved to Valentine. Three of their
daughters: Virginia Gail (Mrs. Bill Drinkwal-
ter) , Norma LaVonne (Mrs. Bernard Keller)
and Phyllis Irene (Mrs. Victor Friend) were
born in Valentine (Norma) , Mullen (Gail and
Phyllis).

In 1947 they moved to the Carver Ranch
north of Whitman, Ne. in Cherry County.
They worked here until they moved back to
Mullen in 1959. A fourth daughter, Lila Ruth
(Mrs. Warren Kruesdell) was born during the
time they were at the Carver.

After moving back to Mullen, Boyd worked
for the Franke Construction Company and
Harriet taught school for 16 years. She had
taught school five years prior to their
marriage. Boyd passed away in 1973.

Traveling has been one of Harriet's
hobbies. After retiring in Mullen, she has
traveled extensively and has been in forty-
nine of the fifty states, including Alaska and
hawaii. Since their marriages, she has visited
many times in the homes of three of her
daughters in Idaho, Nevada, and Tennessee.
Harriet is active in the Mullen Rebekah
Lodge, the Mullen Area Retired Teachers,
the United Methodist Church and is a charter
member of the Mullen Senior Citizens Club,
having held Treasure's office at one time or
another.
