REIGLE, RAY AND MYRTLE (SHEFNEER)

Ray and Myrtle Reigle 1987


Ray, and twin brother Fay, Reigle was born
to Tom and Theresa Anding Reigle on April
14, 1908 in Mullen. He married Myrtle
Shefneer, daughter of B. Frank and Martha
(Stuart) Shefneer on May 5, 1937 at Thed-
ford, Nebraska. Myrtle was born March 14,
1917 at Mullen, NE.

Ray and Myrtle had their first home on
Calf Creek north of Mullen. Their oldest
daughter, Marjorie, recalls that the house was
on one side and the barn on the opposite side
of the Creek. Her Dad seemed to always be
pulling vehicles out of the creek bed where
the road crossed it. Reigles lived in Cherry
County until 1943 when they moved into
Hooker County settling on a ranch south of
Mullen where they lived for better than 30
years.

Their daughters, Marjorie Ann born
1938 in Mullen and Doris Irene born
1940 in Mullen, were both born
while the family lived in south Cherry
County.

Marjorie married donald Robert Pearson,
son of Fritz and Myrtle Pearson on December
21, 1957 in Mullen. They had four children:
Julie, Linda, Donald Jr., and Susan. they also
have seven grandchildren.

Doris married Melvin C. Uphoff on Jan-
uary 3, 1959 and are presently living at
Lexington. They have two daughters, Car-
laRae and Cynthia Kay, and 1 grandchild.
Mel's parents are Carl and Beth Uphoff of
North Platte, Nebraska.

Myrtle worked as a practical nurse in the
Mullen Memorial Hospital for 21 years until
her health forced her to retire.

Ray and Myrtle retired in Mullen 18 years
ago.
