Marjorie was born June 24, 1921, on the
Old Howard Place located in Cherry Co., in
the Dry Valley area. She was the oldest of
nine children born to Ray and Mae Ridenour.
She spent her early years from 1923 to June
1941 in Mullen, NE. She attended grade
school in the old wooden two story school
building, graduating there in May 1935. She
graduated from Hooker County High School
in May 1939. In school she was active in
softball, basketball, band, orchestra, chorus,
and pep crew. She spent a lot of her summers
with her maternal grandparents, the Charlie
Marsh's, at their farm in Cherry Co. about 20
miles north of Mullen. She joined the
Campfire Girls when it was first organized
under the direction of Violet and Mabel
Mathews. It was a very enjoyable experience
doing the different projects, camping, and
learning to swim. She was active in the
Methodist church, both in young peoples
meetings and teaching Sunday school classes,
also with the programs put on by the young
people. She married Woodrow Morrison and
they had two children. Larry, born
1940 and Ginger Rae, born Aug. 22, 1942.
Both children were born at the home of her
parents in Mullen, NE. She and Larry joined
Woodrow in Omaha where he was working in
June 1941. Woodrow died Oct. 5, 1943, age 26
yrs. of Hodgkins and Ginger Rae followed
him on Sept. 13, 1944 after a sudden illness.
Marjorie stayed in Omaha where she was
working in a defense plant making 155
milimeter shells for the service men in World
War Two. Larry spent most of his school
years in Mullen, graduating from high school
in 1959. Marjorie married Herbert Hartman
of Omaha in 1945. They have one son, Dana,
born 1954. In March of 1955 they
moved to California living in Oakland, CA for
two years, then moving to southern Califor-
nia in the Pomona Valley area. After working
for 25 years for the same company, she retired
in 1983, settling in Southlake, Lake Isabella,
CA., about 50 miles up the Kern River from
Bakersfield. Larry married Linda Nutter of
Thedford. They had two daughters, Ginger
and Susan. They lived in Omaha and Lincoln
before moving to Scottsbluff, NE. where they
owned and operated a laundry and dry
cleaning business. Larry was killed in a car-
train accident on Jan. 17, 1969 when on his
way home for lunch. His daughters now live
in Mesa, AZ. and Susan is married and has
a daughter, Destiny Renee, born
1985.
