ROGERS, ROBERT THOMAS AND JOAN MAIRE (MACKE)

Robert was born on 1933 in
Queens Borough of New York City. He and
his brother Jack were raised in Queens. Their
parents were Andrew Vincent Rogers and
Mary (Bogart) Rogers. They and the brother
Jack are deceased. Robert served in the Army
and was employed in the Post Office in
Manhattan.

Joan was born in Mullen on
1939. She is the eldest of five children,
Kenneth, Teresa, Richard and Margaret.
Joan's parents are Edgar J. Macke /and F.
Pauline (Boyer) Macke. Joan was working for
United Airlines in New York City when she
met Robert. They were married May 25, 1959
in Mullen. they moved back to Nebraska in
1960 and Robert was employed in the original
Si Senk building (Johnsons and Mackes)
until a fire destroyed the building in Novem-
ber 1974.

Roxanne Marie was born
1961 and is now a registered nurse with her
BA degree. She is stationed at Ft. Belvoir, VA
and has the rank of Captain. Rhonda leah was
born on 1963. She married Todd
Ryan Hoyt on July 11, 1981. They now have
three children, Phillip, Thomas and Diane.
Rhonda and Todd reside in Chadron and
attend Chadron State College with teaching
degrees in mind for the future. Mitchell John
was born 1969. He was a four year
placer at the State Wrestling and two of those
as champion. He is attending Kearney State
College with a degree in broadcasting and
communications in his plans. Matthew James
was born 1973. He is an eighth
grader in the Mullen schools and is also very
interested in sports activities.

Robert and Dick Macke, a brother-in-law,
now have a partnership in Macke's Grocery
in Mullen. Joan is the Hooker County
Associate Judge. She worked for the Postal
Service for 18 years and is an EMS Instructor
for adult and high school classes. The Mullen
Weather Station was installed in the Rogers'
home in 1965 and both Robert and Joan are
Certified Observers. The station has been
operable for 23 years.
