Elick and Florence Sexton 1945 50th Anniversary


Ray Sexton's 80th Birthday Party - 1986 all but 3 were Ray's relatives


In October of 1912, Elick B. Sexton and
wife Florence moved from Abilene, Kansas to
a small ranch 12 miles southwest of Mullen
with their family of 5 children. More children
joined the family later. One son, Clarence
died at 3 months in 1898 and a daughter in
1912, 8 years 9 months, 1912. Children were:
Ralph, Perry, Ray, Grace, Fred, Pearl, Frank,
Beulah, and Orpha.

Ralph, the oldest son, married Nettie
Ellison, they had a daughter deceased in 1918
with flu. They later moved to Abilene,
Kansas in 1927 and a son, Ronald was born
and he still lives there. Ralph and Nettie are
deceased.

Grace, their 2nd child married Herman
Maire. They had 6 children, now all married
with families of their own and all lived in
Nebraska except Roy who lives in Denver,
Colorado. Herman and 1 daughter, deceased.
Grace still lives on the ranch 10 miles
southwest of Mullen.

Perry, the second son married Ruth Ma-
theuson and they have 3 children. 1 son and
daughter married and 1 son a bachelor. Perry
and Ruth live in Vallejo, California and their
children live close to them.

The 3rd son, Ray married Dorothy Piel,
October 8, 1928 and they have 5 children. Ray
and Dorothy operated the Sexton Truck Line
from February 16, 1931 till January 1, 1976,
now they do as they please. They will
celebrate their 6Oth anniversary October 8,
1988. Ray and Dorothy's oldest son, Ray
Henry married Joan Collings from Kodaka,
South Dakota and he operates a small ranch
which has a pivot in alfalfa. He has 44 buffalo
on the ranch. He bought the Sexton Truck
Line in January 1, 1976 and operates it also.
Their oldest daughter, Anita married Bob
Cummings of Wallace, Nebraska. They're
farmers and have 2 boys and a girl. Mike was
married to Kim Merz and is now divorced. He
lives in Omaha and is a computer program-
mer. Ray Henry and Joan's youngest, Ronda,
lives in Dallas, Texas and works at mortgage
and loan processing. Irene, the oldest daugh-
ter of Ray and Dorothy, married Gerald
Seidler of Alliance. They have 5 children.
They live on a farm and also ranch. Their
oldest girl married Tony Goodlake and live
in Washington with three children. Irene's
oldest son, Roger, married Patty Winscott
and lives north of Ashby, Nebraska with a
boy and girl. Becky, Irene and Gerald's 2nd
daughter, married Tom Heusman, they had
twin boys and one girl. Tom is deceased and
Becky lives in Alliance, Nebraska. Their 2nd
son, Mark is single and attending school in
Sidney, Nebraska. Seidler's youngest daugh-
ter, Sandy married and is divorced, she has
one son and lives in Alliance. Ray and
Dorothy's son Clyde, married Patricia
Phipps and they had three children. Pat and
Dorothy's son Clyde, married Patricia
Phipps and they had three children. Pat is
deceased and Clyde, remarried Carol Meek
of Fort Collins, Colorado. They now own and
operate a motel in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.
Clyde's oldest daughter, Carol married Kevin
Alishouse and they live in Dickins, North
Dakota and have 2 sons. Susan Sexton
married Ed Steel from North Platte, Nebras-
ka. They live on a ranch south of Tyron,
Nebraska. They have 2 girls and a boy.
Clyde's son Dale, attends computer school at
Rapid City, South Dakota. Ray and Doro-
thy's 2nd daughter Lola, married Clyde
Huddle, they have 5 girls. She is now divorced
and lives in Mead, Nebraska where she
worked at a foam insulation factory driving
a delivery truck to many states. Their oldest
daughter Kim married Randy Rasmussen.
They have two girls and live on a farm south
of Fremont. Mollie Jo married Dan Simon
and lives at Ithia, Nebraska and has one girl.
Peggy married Bryant Sweet of Mead and is
now divorced. She lives in Mead and works
at Foxley Feed Lot. Jeffie married Jeff
Schultz of Mead. They live in Mead and have
2 sons. Lola's youngest daughter, Sheri, is a
senior at Mead High School. Shirley, Ray and
Dorothy's youngest girl married Larry Sweet,
son of Clarence and Dorothy Sweet in 1963.
Larry works at Mullen Coop and Shirley
works for the Nebraska Department of Social
Services. They have one girl and a son. Their
daughter Brenda, has graduated from Uni-
versity of Nebraska, Lincoln and now lives in
Phoenix, Arizona and is employed in Com-
munity recreation, where she is activity
director of the Ahwautkee Racket and Swim
Club. Brenda is engaged to marry Nicholas
Nichols of Phoenix. Larry and Shirley's son
Bryan attends the University of Nebraska at
Lincoln and is a Junior.

Fred Sexton, the 4th son of Elick and
Florence Sexton married Rosella Miller of
Hemingford. She is now deceased. They
adopted a boy and girl. Both are married and
the son deceased. Fred is now remarried to
Mary Jane.

Pearl, the 2nd daughter of Elick and
Florence married Francis Brennan of Mullen.
They lived in Laurel, Montana and had 4 sons
and a girl. Francis is now deceased. Pearl still
lives in Laurel and most of her children live
close to her.

Frank, the youngest son's story is else-
where in the book.

Beulah, the 3rd daughter's story (Mrs.
Henry Erny) is also in the book.

Orpha, the youngest daughter of Elick and
Florence married Arvil (Mike) Piel of Mul-
len. They moved to Casper, Wyoming and
had 1 boy and 3 girls. Mike is now deceased
and Oprha continues to live in Casper where
all but one of her children live.
