SIMONSON - GARNER

Margaret (Peggy) Ann Simonson Garner
was born August 19, 1921, the fifth child born
to Nels and Marguerite Simonson. She
graduated from the Mullen High School in
1938 and taught four years in the Hooker
County Schools. The schools where she
taught had enrollments of from 2 to 10
children and were located ten to twenty-five
miles from Mullen. Teachers usually drove
from Mullen to the schools until the weather
became bad, then boarded with the pupils
parents. They either walked to school or rode
horse back. After leaving the teaching profes-
sion, Peggy went to Lincoln, NE where she
attended the University of Nebraska, the
Lincoln School of Commerce and the Univer-
sity of Omaha. She worked as a bookkeeper
in Lincoln and for the Union Pacific Railroad
in Omaha. She married Rodney J. Garner on
June 23, 1951. Her two children, Geoffry
William and Diane Irene were born in
Omaha, NE. The family moved to Shawnee
Mission, KS in January 1956 where they lived
until June 1966 when they moved to the
Denver suburb, Applewood, near Golden,
CO.

Peggy retired from Gates Forming Acces-
sories, Inc. in September 1987 where she had
worked as a Credit Manager for twenty years.

Geoffry Garner was married to Annette
Major in August 1980. Their son, David
Christopher, was born 1983, and their
daughter, Christy Marie was born
1985.

Diane Garner Kellogg was married to
William (Bill) Kellogg on January 8, 1977.
Their children, Brandon William, was born
1983 and Tyler Rodney, was born
1987.

Rodney John Garner died June 5, 1985.
Peggy resides in Golden, Colorado.
