Bill and Laura Simonson, 1968.


William Ervine "Bill,, Simonson was born
in Mullen, Nebr. Feb. 10, 1917 to Simon
Tobias Simonson and Helen Lorraine (Stew-
art). Bill had 2 brothers, Stewart Orin and
Simon Dana and 2 sisters, Allegra Bertha
(Beuchler) and Lucille Alice (Barent). Bill
rode horse back 3 miles to attend rural school
through the 8th grade in Cherry County,
Nebr. He attended high school in Mullen. He
was County Assessor for several years. Bill
lived his entire life on the family homestead
north and west of Mullen, on Calf Creek.

Nov. 3, 1941 Bill married Laura Hammond
at Alliance, Nebr. Laura was born at Mullen
July 28, 1923 to Elmer Layfayette Hammond
and Allie Pearl Grover. Laura had 2 sisters
Gladys (Howard) and Eva (Wallace) and one
brother John (Jack). They were all raised in
the south west corner of Hooker County,
Nebr. Laura walked to school, 1/2 mile each
way through the 8th grade and then attended
Mullen High School.

The Simonson children all went to country
school in Cherry County which was 2 1/2 miles
to go to school. The 2 older boys rode horse
back and then Dad got a little Jeep which
they all thought they were big enough to
drive. All of them are graduates of the Mullen
High School.

Eugene LeRoy of Mullen has a son, Curt
Randall, a Junior at Kearney State College,
Kearney, Nebr. He is taking R.O.T.C., and a
daughter, Terrel Jo, who is a Senior at
Litchfield High School, Litchfield, Nebr.

William Russell and Gladys (Boyer) have
a daughter, Peggy Jean and Ray Tillman
have a daughter Rya Delyn. They are in Colo.
A son, Larry Russell lives in Ogallala, Nebr.
He is a station attendant at Roscoe, Nebr.

Karen Lorraine Micheel of North Platte,
Nebr. has daughters Tessa Lynn (and had
triplets) Tenna Louise, Trina Kay and Torri
Leann and also a daughter Wendy Sue and
Ted Raile of Palmer, Nebr. Karen attended
one year at the University of Nebraska at
Lincoln, Nebr. and graduated from Mid
Plains community College, in North Platte
with an Associate of Applied Science Degree
in Data Processing.

Janice Kay and "Butch" L.L. Barnason of
Hastins, Nebr. where she is a teacher in
Upper Level Elementary School and he is a
State Patrolman. They have 3 sons, Matthew
Tobias, Lane Lydell, and Randall Wade.
Janice had a BA and MA in Elementary
Education from Kearney State College.

John Erwin served 2 years in the Armed
Forces and attended Kearney State College
and now works on construction but makes his
home in Mullen.

Harlan Dean and Sharon (Priest) have a
son Ryan Dean. Harlan graduated from
Sidney College, Sidney, Nebr. with a degree
in Welding. He is currently employed at a
feed lot at Ainsworth, Nebr.
