           Exchange Student

In July 1975, Anja Toivonen came as a
ICYE Exchange Student from Kalanti, Fin-
land, to spend a year with the Don Mallory
family. Anja graduated from Mullen High
School in May 1976, and returned home in
July. She participated in all school activities
and the United Methodist Church. She
enjoyed living here very much. She spoke four
languages, played the guitar, taught piano
and Sunday School and participated in
sports.

Anja was a joy and inspiration to our family
and we feel it was a wonderful experience for
all.

Anja and Timo Hinttu were united in
marriage in Finland on March 29, 1980. They
both continued their formal education and
graduated from college. Anja is now Elemen-
tary School Teacher. Timo is a Soil Conserva-
tionist and Forester. They are also active in
church work.

They have two sons, Tuomo and Hannu.

Don and Mariola visited them in Finland
in July 1980. We still correspond regularly.
