Doris (Marshall) ane Harry Coble. Wedding,
September 1, 1937.

Nora Coble was born in Miltondale, Kan-
sas June 16, 1880 to Isac and- Amelia Beem
and came to Hyannis in a covered wagon in
1888. She attended the first school in Hyan-
nis, Nebraska and went through the 11th
grade and then worked in the milinery
department at Miller and Payne in Lincoln,
Nebraska.

W.C. Coble was born July 29, 1876 in Dark,
County Ohio. He was married to Catherine
Hessen in 1897. A daughter Alma was born
January 4, 1900. Catherine died. Alma and
her Dad came to Hyannis, Nebraska in 1901.

Wilkie and Nora were married December
25, 1905. They lived on a homestead south of
Hyannis where Glen was born. They sold out
and bought the Moorcroft where Harry was
born November 25, 1913 at the Moorcroft
ranch, east and south of Hyannis. Doctor
Barr was the doctor at that time in Hyannis.
When Harrys was nine months old, his folks
moved north of Whitman, Nebraska, thirty
miles. They bought this ranch from Forkes
and Minor. Harry went to school in Mullen,
country school 2 years, Hyannis part of one
year and 8 years in Whitman, Nebraska. He
graduated from here in 1932 and he and
Wayne Marshall tied for Valedictorian. In
the fall of 1932, he went to the University of
Nebraska in Lincoln for the first semester
and then came home to help his Dad on the
ranch.

September 1, 1937, Harry married Doris
Marshall, a neighbor girl. Her parents were
Fred and Maggie Marshall. Doris was born in
Whitman, Nebraska January 13, 1919 in the
home where Earl Garwood now lives. She
attended Lackey school and Dist. #94, then
went 2 years to Whitman and graduated from
N.S.A. Curtis in 1936. Her class celebrated
their 50th anniversary at the Holiday Inn in
North Platte September 1986.

Doris had five brothers: Floyd, Gerald,
George, Wayne and Raymond, who are all
deceased. She has one sister, Alice Van Natta
who lives in Mullen. Doris taught two years
in Dist. #94, one year after we were married.

Doris's father Fred was born September 16,
1884 at Gibbon, Nebraska, the eldest of six
children. His father was a blacksmith and
wheel wright in England. His mother's family
raised Angus cattle and had a merchant ship
in Scottland. Maggie, Doris's Mom, was
eldest of ten children and was born October
1, 1887 in Stockton, Kansas to Edward S. and
Jessie White Prindle. She and Fred were
married October 18, 1905 near Gibbon at her
parents home.

Doris and Harry lived with his folks the
first year and moved to Johnnie Valley, three
miles away in their new home in September
1938. In 1937, Harry, Glen and their Dad
formed the Coble Cattle Co. Each had one
third interest in cattle, machinery and 12,000
acres of land known as Camp. In 1943, they
dissolved the Company and we bought the
Newton place from Fred and Maggie Mar-
shall, then leased 10,300 acres from Dad
Coble until 1950 when we bought the east half
of the old ranch. In 1959 we traded and
bought land from the Carver. In 1968 we
bought 4,000 acres from George Marshall and
the same fall built a home in Mullen. In 1986
we bought 3200 acres from Kenneth Boyer
and in 1985, Doris folks estate land.

September 1, 1987 we were married 50
years. We did have a wonderful celebration
September 6, a day we will always cherish. It
has been fifty busy years but what more could
we ask for. There is no place like the Sandhills
to live and no greater people. We have
enjoyed all our activities in the ranch busi-
ness. We started out with no phones, had trail
roads (of which there are plenty yet), a 32 volt
light plant and wind charger. Doris's folks
gave us a Majestic range for a wedding gift
and we were so proud of it. We still use it at
the Carrier to heat up dinner when we do
cattle work in the fall.

On the lighter side, Harry is 32 degree
Mason, a member in Mullen 282 AF and AM.
A life member of the Elks, a Shriner and
belongs to Tehama Temple in Hastings,
Nebraska. Doris and Harry are both mem-
bers of Winifred Chapter 292 in Mullen and
belong to the United Methodist Church.

We lost our first son, July 3, 1939. Doctor
Howell came out to the ranch to deliver him.
He was buried in the Whitman cemetery July
4, 1939. Gary was born April 6, 1941 at
Hyannis and Jim was born September 17,
1942. Gary lives on a ranch one mile west of
Keystone, Nebraska which he recently
bought from McGinnley's. He is married to
Joan Yokum. They have one child, Harry
Jason. Joan has two children from a former
marriage, Ted in the U.S. Navy and Celine
works in Lincoln. Gary's children from a
former marriage are Jennie, Gordon and
Jolene.

Jennie is married to Steve Thurneau and
live in Alaska. Gordon is with his Dad on the
ranch and Jolene lives in Hastings, Nebraska.
Jim lives on the home place and recently
bought the south half of the George Marshall
place. He is married to LaVerna Walker.
They have two children. Bill works in Omaha
for Ford and Lisa is a Beauty Operator and
lives in Mullen.
